Current and incoming master's students and supervised program students.
MASc student
Yunhao (Davis) Xu is a MASc student in FRESH with a forest operations background and a research interest in mathematical modelling for forest operations and planning.
His current thesis work develops forest estate modelling and decision-support workflows for post-wildfire salvage planning.
Before joining FRESH, Davis completed a B.Sc. in the UBC Faculty of Forestry and worked as a research assistant on field data collection.
MASc student
Jamie Iversen is a MASc student in FRESH and a registered forester-in-training in British Columbia.
His research focuses on risk-aware forest estate modelling for wildfire mitigation, linking fuel-treatment planning, timber supply analysis, and landscape-level decision support.
Jamie's past work as a wildland firefighter helped motivate his interest in wildfire fuel treatments and operationally useful planning tools.
Incoming master's student
Thomas Cooper is an incoming master's student in FRESH.
His developing MSc direction connects to FRESH interests in quantitative forest-sector modelling, open research tools, and decision support.
TRANSFOR-M program student
Kailey is a TRANSFOR-M program student supervised by Gregory Paradis.
Her interest in aerial seeding and microsite selection grew from past work experience in reforestation and seedling maintenance in nursery operations.
Kailey completed her B.Sc. in Forest Biology at the University of Victoria and worked as a nursery technician at the Saanich Forestry Centre before joining FRESH.
She has also completed a year abroad studying Forest Science in Italy through the UBC TRANSFOR-M master's program.
Her work connects to FRESH interests in drone seeding, microsite selection, and decision support for reforestation and restoration.
