Paradis, G. E. 2026. A Two-Stage Fitting Method for Truncated Stem Diameter Distributions. Forest Science.
Project
Stem diameter distribution fitting
A pair of reproducible stem diameter distribution fitting manuscripts connected to Forest Science, Nemora, and FRESH forest biometrics workflows.
This project tracks two related stem diameter distribution fitting manuscripts and their reproducible analysis workflows.
The published Forest Science paper, A Two-Stage Fitting Method for Truncated Stem Diameter Distributions, introduces a two-stage workflow that allows analysts to recover truncated Weibull and gamma solutions while retaining familiar complete-form density implementations.
The companion horizontal point sampling manuscript, A Weighted Fitting Approach for Diameter Distributions from Horizontal Point Sampling, develops a weighted fitting approach for diameter distributions from size-biased HPS tallies, with reproducible scripts and manuscript sources available in the public repository.
The work is connected to Nemora and broader FRESH efforts to make forest inventory, distribution fitting, and model-input preparation more transparent and reproducible.
